Westminster Pipe Band of Oklahoma Welcomes Jon Greene As New Leading Drummer

Edmond, Oklahoma – Bruce Robertson, Pipe Major of the Westminster Pipe Band of Oklahoma, is pleased to announce that Jon Greene of Austin, Texas has been appointed the band’s new Leading Drummer.

Like many American drummers, Jon began his musical journey in school, performing concert and marching percussion. While attending the University of Texas at Austin, he discovered his first pipe band and joined the Silver Thistle Pipe Band. A few years later, he moved to the Hamilton Pipe Band in Houston, where he studied under lead drummers Gordon Sampson and, later, Mike Brisch. Jon performed with Hamilton for seven years before stepping away to focus on his career in chemical engineering, family life, and live/studio drumming.

In 2005, he joined the Westminster Pipe Band under lead drummer Stephen Cameron and remained with the group until 2010. He is now rejoining the recently reformed band as its Leading Drummer.

Jon has studied under many respected drumming figures, including Mike Brisch, Gordon Sampson, Stephen Cameron, Michael Hunter, and Bert Barr. He counts Jim Kilpatrick, Willie Kerr, and Reid Maxwell among his major influences.

Jon brings a wealth of percussion performance and pipe band drumming expertise, along with strong organizational skills and proven leadership. A Chemical Engineer by training, he is a Senior Project Manager with 28 years of experience at a national environmental engineering and consulting firm.

The current Westminster Pipe Band draws its members primarily from the central corridor of the United States, including but not limited to Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Texas, and Arkansas.
